Detection of the H3 K36M protein by immunohistochemistry with H3 K36M (RM193) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody may be used to aid in the diagnosis of chondroblastomas.

Histone proteins provide structural support for chromosomal DNA and regulate the accessibility of genes for transcription.1 H3 K36M is a mutant histone protein that is produced by a point mutation (K36M) in the H3.3 histone gene.1 Chondroblastomas, benign cartilaginous bone tumors, harbor H3 K36M mutations and show expression of the H3 K36M protein, which is not expressed in normal tissues.1-6 Immunohistochemistry for H3 K36M shows a nuclear pattern of staining.
